The UAE Cyber Security Council and Google Cloud have joined forces to create a groundbreaking advancement in the nation’s digital security infrastructure. Their collaboration establishes the first Global Cyber Security Center of Excellence in Abu Dhabi, which shows UAE’s steadfast dedication to building strong cyber defenses and state-of-the-art technology.

Sheik Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and UAE National Security Advisor, recently visited the United States. He met with many global industry leaders and technology executives to explore ways for expanding strategic collaborations with the UAE, especially when you have artificial intelligence and cybersecurity in focus.

The UAE Cabinet has given its official approval to Google Cloud to launch this trailblazing center. This move lines up with the leadership’s vision to make the country a global hub for cybersecurity excellence. Google Cloud will then invest heavily in advanced cloud capabilities across the UAE.

“This strategic collaboration with Google Cloud is a cornerstone of the UAE’s vision to become a global cybersecurity leader,” stated Dr. Mohamed Alkuwaiti, Head of Cyber Security for the UAE Government. Cristina Pitarch, Managing Director of EMEA Google Cloud Security, responded that “Google Cloud is honored to be a foundational collaborator in building that future”.

The center has three main goals: collaboration with global academia and research institutes, detailed training and education programs, and building a team of highly skilled intelligence analysts and security experts. The Center will also host a UAE Cyber Security Council-endorsed training program delivered by Mandiant, part of Google Cloud. This program gives participants a chance to learn directly from experts who handle sophisticated cyberattacks[53].

This project shows UAE’s forward-thinking approach to deepening their commitment against cyber threats and supporting secure digital transformation throughout the region[53].

The UAE’s new Global Cyber Security Center of Excellence brings economic benefits that go way beyond enhanced protection against digital threats. According to research conducted by Access Partnership, this strategic initiative will prevent at least AED 24.97 billion in cybercrime losses by 2030. The center will create over 20,300 specialized cybersecurity jobs and pull in up to AED 5.14 billion in foreign direct investment during this period.

These numbers match perfectly with UAE’s broader National Investment Strategy 2031. The strategy wants to make the nation a leading global strategic investment hub. The UAE Cabinet has approved this detailed strategy that targets increasing foreign direct investment stock to AED 2.2 trillion and yearly foreign direct investment inflows to AED 240 billion by 2031.

The UAE’s cybersecurity job market is booming right now. Job platforms show a remarkable 60.59% surge in cybersecurity positions. Dubai has over 2,000 cybersecurity job openings available. The financial sector’s searches for cybersecurity roles jumped by 51.3% between 2023 and 2024.

Industry professionals can expect attractive compensation packages. Salary projections show a solid 4% increase in all industries in 2025, with tech roles often earning even more. Companies actively seek specialists who know artificial intelligence, machine learning, and quantum-resistant cryptography to strengthen their security systems.

The UAE has put over AED 7.34 billion into cybersecurity and digital transformation. A reliable cyber defense system helps achieve its digital economy goals. The cyber hub creates a secure environment that encourages wider digitalization and leads to substantial productivity gains across the economy.

This initiative supports UAE’s National Digital Economy Strategy 2031. The strategy aims to double the digital economy’s GDP contribution from 9.7% to 19.4%. By building a secure digital ecosystem that serves businesses and institutions, the UAE deepens its position as a global technology leader while creating valuable economic opportunities for its citizens and residents.

UAE Cyber Security Council Implements National Strategy Through Hub

The UAE’s digital defense framework relies on the National Cybersecurity Strategy, which now operates through the new Cyber Security Center of Excellence. The UAE Cabinet approved this detailed strategy based on five fundamental pillars: governance, protection, innovation, establishing and building, and partnership. These components help the UAE create “a cohesive and highly effective governance framework for cybersecurity”.

The UAE Cyber Security Council (CSC), led by Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, has elevated the country’s position among top performers in the 2024 Global Cybersecurity Index. This recognition showcases the nation’s progress toward building “one of the most secure and advanced digital infrastructures in the world”.

The strategy’s governance framework coordinates cybersecurity efforts at federal, emirate, and sectoral levels. It removes regulatory overlap and improves accountability throughout the digital ecosystem. The protection pillar creates “a secure, resilient, and sound digital environment” through a resilient National Cyber Incident Response Plan that quickly detects, assesses, and responds to cyber threats.

The UAE has recognized the importance of these defenses and invested over AED 7.34 billion in cybersecurity and digital transformation. Global losses from cyberattacks could reach AED 36.72 trillion in 2024. The CSC plans to implement several key policies, including a cryptography policy in the first quarter of 2025.

Officials will track the strategy’s success through “more than 20 clearly-defined key performance metrics”. The strategy, first launched in 2019 and updated regularly, includes 60 initiatives that engage the entire cybersecurity ecosystem in the UAE. These measures strengthen the nation’s ability to protect its critical information infrastructure from emerging threats.

UAE has marked a major breakthrough in its digital development by establishing the Global Cyber Security Center of Excellence. The country’s cooperative venture with Google Cloud will boost economic growth and build a stronger national security framework.

This new hub will create 20,300 cybersecurity jobs. UAE will also attract AED 5.14 billion in foreign direct investment, which solidifies its role as a global technology leader. The center takes a detailed approach that combines cutting-edge research with specialized training and industry partnerships to place the nation at the vanguard of cybersecurity.

UAE Cyber Security Council implements the National Cybersecurity Strategy through this hub, which shows its steadfast dedication to digital excellence. The strategic move is expected to prevent AED 24.97 billion in potential cybercrime losses by 2030, which proves its economic importance.

This center represents a crucial step in achieving UAE’s digital transformation goals and protecting its technological future. The initiative firmly establishes UAE’s position as a world leader in cybersecurity innovation and digital infrastructure growth.
