Ajman Tourism Joins Forces With Culture, Media Sectors
Ajman tourism has begun a new chapter as two major departments join forces through a governmental restructuring. The Ajman Department of Tourism Development now operates under a new name—the Ajman Department of Tourism, Culture and Media—after merging with the Ajman Culture and Media Department under Law No. (2) of 2025. This major change, announced on Monday (3 November 2025), shows the emirate’s vision to develop three key sectors together.
The tourism development department and culture department have united to create one authority with complete oversight. The timing works well as Ajman’s tourism sector grows steadily. Tourism revenue jumped 7% in the first quarter of 2024, thanks to a 9% increase in visitors. The new department wants to establish Ajman as a cultural hub that attracts more tourists. His Highness Sheik Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, initiated this restructuring to blend tourism growth with cultural preservation and media promotion.

“The new department aims to develop an integrated legislative framework that regulates tourism, cultural, and media activities, keeps pace with global trends, and ensures compliance with professional and ethical standards.” — Sheik Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman
His Highness Sheik Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, has issued Law No. 2 of 2025 that creates the “Ajman Department of Tourism, Culture and Media”. This new law combines two existing bodies – the Ajman Department of Tourism Development and Ajman Culture and Media Department – into one organization.
The unified department will take over all responsibilities and commitments from both previous organizations. The 2025 government budget will directly fund this new entity. The existing team members will keep their current financial benefits as they move to the new department.
Sheik Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi will lead the department as Chairman. Through Emiri Decree No. 15 of 2025, Mahmood Alhashmi has been selected as Director-General.
The department’s main office will be in Ajman city, and it can open new branches with Executive Council approval. This merger will optimize coordination between these related sectors.
The law cancels all previous rules about the former departments, but existing regulations stay active until new ones are created. These changes will begin 90 days after the law’s announcement and will appear in the emirate’s Official Gazette.
Leadership outlines vision for integrated development

The newly merged Ajman Department of Tourism, Culture and Media has a vision that goes way beyond just reorganizing departments. Sheik Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the department, emphasized that this integration represents “an ambitious vision aimed at consolidating institutional integration between the tourism, culture and media sectors” that reflects “a firm commitment to developing a more efficient and flexible model of government work, based on the pillars of innovation and sustainability.”
This strategic merger will strengthen Ajman’s role as an integrated cultural center that matches the emirate’s future goals. H.E. Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, Director General, called this change “a new chapter in Ajman’s integrated government operations” that shows their commitment to “developing an efficient institutional model that combines cultural creativity, tourism growth and media influence.”
Leadership sees Ajman as “a dynamic hub that combines authenticity with innovation.” The department will lead initiatives to boost the economy and community. They will focus on digital transformation, enabling national talent, and building strategic collaborations.
The unified approach shows Ajman’s dedication to better performance in tourism, culture, and media sectors. This will improve service quality and promote state-of-the-art solutions throughout the emirate to achieve Ajman Vision 2030 and the leadership’s goals for future prosperity.
New department streamlines operations across three sectors
“The department also seeks to position Ajman as a global hub for tourism, culture, and media by developing national talent, preparing them for leadership roles in these vital sectors, and providing the infrastructure necessary to attract investments, boost GDP, and promote cultural exchange, understanding, and coexistence.” — Sheik Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman
Bringing tourism, culture, and media under one roof creates most important operational benefits for the Ajman tourism development department. The optimized structure makes this united entity a single coordination point. It now handles destination marketing, cultural preservation, event management, creative industries, and media development. The department issues licenses, attracts investments, and manages regulatory frameworks through united processes.
The Ajman tourism culture media department has eliminated duplicate work from separate departments. This ensures all promotional, cultural, and communication efforts follow one direction. Their integrated model builds a unified brand image that shows the emirate’s modernity, inclusivity, and cultural pride.
The merger makes resource allocation work better for tourism development, cultural programming, and media initiatives. So staff from both former departments have moved to the new entity while keeping their financial benefits. The tourism division will boost Ajman’s appeal as a destination by developing infrastructure and helping hospitality businesses.
This integration lines up with Ajman Vision 2030’s goal to make Ajman an arts and culture hub. The united approach helps the department protect Ajman’s cultural heritage better. It supports community involvement in art activities and delivers eco-friendly tourism development that will last.
The merger reshapes the scene of Ajman’s administration. A single authority now unites tourism, culture, and media sectors, which shows a progressive approach to governance. The new Ajman Department of Tourism, Culture and Media is ready to roll out coordinated initiatives that highlight the emirate’s heritage and attract visitors through unified marketing strategies.
This restructuring ended up serving many purposes beyond just making administration more efficient. The united department removes duplicate operations, which helps target resources to strategic priorities better. Tourism’s growth shows positive momentum with a 7% revenue increase earlier this year, and it will benefit from better coordination with cultural programs and media outreach.
Sheik Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi and Director General Mahmood Alhashmi’s vision goes far beyond reorganizing departments. They’ve mapped out a clear direction to make Ajman a dynamic hub that balances tradition with new ideas. On top of that, their focus on digital advancement and developing national talent builds a strong foundation for lasting growth.
This merger’s real value lies in its long-term effects. People visiting Ajman will find a more connected destination where tourism, cultural events, and media presence work together naturally. Local businesses also benefit from simpler licensing and regulations that used to involve multiple departments.
Ajman Vision 2030 guides these changes. Through this bold restructuring, Ajman shows its steadfast dedication to improving governance while keeping its cultural identity intact. The emirate sets an example of how uniting strategic operations can boost public sector performance and create better results for residents and visitors alike.
