Dubai SWAT Challenge Draws Record 114 Teams Worldwide

The UAE SWAT Challenge will bring an extraordinary gathering of elite teams to Dubai. The event stands out as the largest tactical competition worldwide with 114 teams from 48 nations competing at Al Ruwayyah Training City on February 1, 2025. Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi credits the challenge’s remarkable success to H.H. Sheik Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s unwavering support, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. Dubai Police has deployed all necessary resources to uphold the event’s prestigious status, while 33 specialized judges oversee the competitions.

The event reaches global audiences through Dubai Sports TV, Emarat TV, and social media platforms with live broadcasts. A state-of-the-art media center at the venue serves over 70 journalists with high-speed internet, visual content facilities, and up-to-the-minute result displays. Sports tourism benefits from this challenge as it adds more than AED 36.72 million to Dubai’s economy annually.

Competition Structure and Innovation

The competition covers five specialized challenges that test tactical skills and physical endurance. Teams will compete in:

  • Tactical Challenge
  • Assault Challenge
  • Officer Rescue Competition
  • Tower Challenge
  • Obstacle Course Challenge

These challenges help assess how well tactical teams perform and promote teamwork among participants. A panel of 33 judges watches over the competition. These experts specialize in tactical operations and police activities. The judges complete intensive training and help teams understand the rules and scoring systems during initial sessions.

Teams earn points daily throughout the competition. The top three teams receive recognition each evening. The competition ends with a grand finale where judges crown the champions based on their total scores.

A dedicated media center hosts 70 journalists who cover the event. International Participation Highlights

The UAE SWAT Challenge 2025 brings together teams from Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas in an amazing display of skill. African teams have made their mark with 10 strong contenders. Rwanda and South Africa each sent two teams, Kenya brought three, Nigeria fielded two, and Ghana contributed one team.

  • One team each from Ajman, Fujairah, and Ras Al Khaimah Police
  • Three teams from the Police College under the Ministry of Interior
  • Two teams from the Ministry of Interior’s Special Security Forces
  • One team from the National Guard

Women’s teams have reached a new milestone in this year’s competition. Dubai Police Women’s Team returns for their third appearance, while new teams from Abu Dhabi Police, Sharjah, Brazil, and Thailand showcase their tactical expertise.

Moldova’s State Protection and Guard Service (SPPS) Team shows how intense the competition has become. They created a complete training plan that focuses on ground intervention scenarios and better tactics. The team worked hard on continuous communication and coordinated actions under pressure, which shows how high the standards have become.
