UAE Launches Smart Work Permit System to Cut Processing Time

The UAE’s work permit processing has undergone a major digital shift with an AI-powered system at its core. “Eye,” an innovative system launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), now automates work permit applications. The system substantially reduces human intervention, which is only needed in rare cases. The UAE has taken bold steps to position itself among the world’s most digitally advanced labor markets. MoHRE offers 13 different work permit options to registered establishments, based on employment requirements.

The new automated services utilize AI to verify crucial documents like personal photos, passports, and academic certificates. This smart verification ensures accuracy and authenticity while reducing human error. UAE employers and free-zone companies can now process hiring cycles much faster through this electronic work permit system. The UAE government has digitized or AI-enabled more than 80 percent of its customer-facing services. Work permit status checks will become quicker without doubt as the country pushes forward with smart governance initiatives.

“The launch of the ‘Eye’ system represents a significant step in enhancing our services through digital innovation. It reflects the Ministry’s commitment to adopting advanced technologies, supporting national directives, and raising the standards of government service delivery.” — Rashid Hassan Al SaadiActing Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Market Services, Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), UAE

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation showed its revolutionary “Eye” system at GITEX Global 2025 this October. This platform marks a significant step forward in UAE’s mission to optimize government services through technology.

MoHRE showed how their advanced AI-powered system processes work permit applications automatically by checking all required documents. The AI system gets into personal photos, passports, and academic certificates to verify if they are genuine.

“We are proud to unveil the ‘Eye’ system, which marks a new innovative step towards enhancing the Ministry’s services in line with global digital transformation trends,” stated Rashid Hassan Al Saadi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Market Services at MoHRE.

Al Saadi explained that the system brings real benefits to work permit services. It speeds up transactions, cuts operational costs, and ensures documents meet quality standards. These improvements make the customer’s experience better.

MoHRE’s presence at GITEX 2025 includes several other digital projects. The Work Bundle, Ask Data, Forecasting Future Jobs and Skills, Smart Safety Tracker, and MoHRE smart application are on display. These initiatives support UAE Government’s vision to lead in AI and optimize procedures.

This launch is part of UAE’s detailed plan to create a more adaptable and quick work environment for everyone in the labor market.

The UAE’s ‘Eye’ system acts as the main checkpoint for work permit applications. It instantly verifies important documents like photos, passports, and academic certificates. This digital approach cuts down processing time since humans only need to step in for special cases.

The old work permit system was complicated. It needed 15 steps, 16 documents, and 7 visits in person. The whole process took 30 working days. Now, thanks to technology, things are much simpler. Applicants only need to complete 5 steps, submit 5 documents, and visit twice in person. The best part? It takes just 5 working days to process.

The automated system helps both employers and employees. Applications with complete paperwork get approved quickly. The system’s ability to check information across different databases catches mistakes that people might miss.

MoHRE’s staff can now concentrate on cases that need human judgment instead of routine checks. The system gives clear updates about application status and tells users exactly what documents they need to fix. This change makes transactions faster and helps the ministry save money.

The UAE shows it’s a world leader in smart immigration and employment systems. This supports the country’s bigger plan to bring AI into all government services.

MoHRE has launched several digital services beyond streamlining work permits as part of its detailed digital transformation strategy. The ministry showcased its Smart Safety Tracker at GITEX Global 2025. This innovative tool monitors and enforces occupational health and safety standards in workplaces. The system uses generative artificial intelligence to detect safety violations automatically, which includes missing protective equipment or hazardous materials buildup.

The ministry’s Work Bundle is an integrated platform that combines three key services: new employee onboarding, work permit renewal, and work permit cancelation. This platform will cut 25 million procedures yearly, eliminate 12.5 million physical visits, and reduce processing time from 30 to just 5 working days.

The ministry has started a digital integration project with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This system verifies private sector workers’ academic qualifications through direct digital verification to ensure credential authenticity.

The Work Bundle now includes Domestic Worker Services through collaboration with federal authorities. The unified “Work in UAE” platform lets users access residency visa issuance, renewal, and cancelation services for domestic workers.

These initiatives support the UAE’s Zero Government Bureaucracy Program and show the country’s commitment to integrated government services.

The UAE’s “Eye” system launch represents a most important milestone in its digital transformation. This state-of-the-art AI-powered system has reduced processing time from 30 working days to 5 days. The required documents dropped from 16 to 5, and in-person visits decreased from 7 to 2. This saves time and effort for everyone involved.

These improvements have made UAE a global leader in smart government services. The system’s benefits go beyond speed. The system verifies documents with higher accuracy and allows MoHRE’s core team to handle complex cases instead of routine checks. Users receive clearer feedback about their application status, which improves their experience.

MoHRE’s detailed digital system shows UAE’s dedication to administrative reform. Smart Safety Tracker, Work Bundle, and Ministry of Higher Education integration create a framework that cuts bureaucracy at multiple points. These initiatives line up with the country’s Zero Government Bureaucracy Program.

UAE’s rise in the digital world benefits employers and employees through faster processing, less paperwork, and optimized procedures. This change supports UAE’s goal to become one of the world’s most advanced digital labor markets. Though new, the “Eye” system has shown remarkable results by reducing processing times by over 70%. UAE’s work permit system is becoming more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly. This creates a more responsive work environment for everyone.
